Public exhibition to host exciting proposals for new town centre
The Whitehill & Bordon Regeneration Company (WBRC) is launching a public exhibition on Saturday 7 October to showcase the exciting new proposals for the first phase of the Whitehill & Bordon town centre.
The ambition for the town centre is to provide a sustainable range of retail, food and beverage, leisure, office and community spaces to meet the long term needs of Whitehill & Bordon and surrounding villages. Contemporary building forms will sit comfortably alongside retained buildings.
WBRC will showcase several elements of the proposals and what will become the heart of the town from 2019 onwards. Proposals include:
- 27 new shops and restaurants
- A food store
- New arts centre, theatre / six-screen cinema – designed to recognise the heritage of the former military site
- Small business and other office spaces
- Quality new housing
- Covered market and mixed use space for community use and heritage centre
- A variety of landscaped public spaces and gardens including a town centre square
- Underground parking and public transport links
In attendance, will be Engie, Future Skills Centre, East Hampshire District Council, Taylor Wimpey, Exchange Group, Hampshire County Council, The Phoenix Theatre and Arts Centre and the Community Trust, who will be providing information about their plans and their role within the local community. There will also be a coffee point for refreshments.
Residents, business owners and town centre users are being encouraged to attend and review the emerging proposals.
James Child, Project Lead at WBRC said.
“Our proposals for the first phase of the town centre have progressed well since our last event in February which was attended by some 900 people. This exhibition will give people the chance to view the emerging proposals which will be submitted as a planning application shortly. We look forward to hearing the thoughts of the local community,”
