More going on at Hogmoor
Parkruns at Hogmoor Inclosure are back. After being halted across the UK because of Covid, we’re pleased to see their return.
These gatherings are free, off-road running events for all shades of fitness. Adults meet on Saturdays; Junior Parkruns, for 4–14-year-olds, are each Sunday morning. Both start at 9am.
If you’re coming along, we encourage you to walk or cycle to save filling up the car park.
The aim is to have fun while exercising. Come along and join in, whatever your pace.
Also at Hogmoor Inclosure, the Deadwater Valley Trust is organising a series of events over the summer holidays. Please check its website or Facebook for details, especially for last minute changes due to the weather.
Deadwater Valley Trust is supporting the Bordon Library Summer Reading Challenge with a chance to read outside. Bring your own book or borrow one for a spell whilst sitting in a tree, under a parachute or in a hammock – reading is not just for indoors.
The annual Duck Race is back and, for the second year, it will be a virtual event. Ducks can be purchased for £1 each. The winning number over the finish line first will secure £25 for the owner, with prizes for second, third and last placed ducks as well. With two races to choose from and the videoed results on the website and Facebook on 16th August, go online to join in.
Later in August and into September, there will be two bat walks. These will take place at dusk and use bat detectors to hear these fascinating creatures, with an informative commentary from the Ranger team. Numbers will be limited with pre-booking encouraged at a cost of £2.00 per adult.
The Deadwater Valley Trust Photography Competition 2021 opens for entries in mid-August. Last year, it proved so popular that we have decided to open up entries for photographs taken in Bordon Inclosure, Hogmoor Inclosure and the Deadwater Valley Nature Reserve. You will also be able to pre-order the 2022 calendar which will feature the winning photographs.
Finally, we’re looking forward to seeing many of you at our stall at the Whitehill & Bordon Town Partnership Fun Day on 21st August. Come and say hello, take a look at our nature displays, chat to the Rangers and enjoy our nature-based crafts.
