Establishing a base at BASE
BASE Innovation Centre, managed by Oxford Innovation, has established itself as a hub for local businesses to work flexibly, network with each other and often find opportunities for collaboration on projects. One business calling BASE its home is Marketing, Design and Digital agency Mzuri.
We spoke to Mzuri managing director Katherine Bolton about why she chose to move to BASE after 14 years in Liphook and what benefits it has brought her business:
How did you start your company?
Mzuri was founded in 2004, by Directors Philip Tanner-Tremaine and Katherine Bolton. Our purpose is to help clients define and share their stories with the right audience, supporting their business objectives and growth. We serve as the marketing arm for our clients – working collaboratively to develop and implement marketing strategies, visual identity and ongoing content.
What are you working on at the moment?
We are currently supporting a range of businesses across the UK with marketing, design, digital and business development consultancy – from new branding projects and websites to copywriting and social media planning.
Whilst the last 14 months have been challenging for many businesses, we have worked closely with clients to find new and creative ways of communicating and engaging with their audience.
One great success story from 2020 is Exact Architectural Glazing in Liphook, who have experienced strong growth. Their Managing Director, Keely Biggs, recently commented on our work together, “We have some exciting developments planned for 2021 and are looking forward to working with you on those. The new brand, great looking website, regularly updated content and professional photography has taken us to the next level and definitely helped to secure two of our biggest orders in 2020”.
Many clients have used the last year to reassess and take time to develop new business strategies and so we are working on some exciting development plans with existing and new clients to refresh their messaging and strengthen their brand and marketing strategies for 2021 and beyond.
What do you like about BASE Bordon IC?
We are very excited to have moved to Base Innovation Centre and join the vibrant community of businesses here. There is a great vibe in the building and it’s wonderful to be working alongside other businesses and starting to have opportunities to, safely of course, network and collaborate.
The team at BASE have been so supportive in facilitating our move from offices in Liphook, after 14 very happy years there, so huge thanks to Duncan and Clare for their help.
With so much development happening in the town, we are looking forward to seeing the
transformation that takes place over the coming years and the opportunities that will bring to the local business community. We are very happily making full use of all the current facilities including the leisure centre, The Shed and Hogmoor Inclosure!
What projects / ambitions do you have for the future of your company?
We are a close-knit team providing fast turnaround, joined up thinking and the personal touch. We pride ourselves on close attention to detail and creative thinking, along with passion and a sense of humour. We love what we do and we want clients to love working with us and gain real value from our work.
We are now looking to grow the team, adding to our marketing and design capabilities in 2021 as we are experiencing an exciting growth in business – we would love to hear from local marketers and designers who are looking for a new opportunity.
Having always supported local and regional business with our marketing and design expertise, we are eager to keep doing so and to meet with firms in and around Bordon that are looking for help or advice in growing their businesses.
