Taylor Wimpey Case Study

TW Winstanley
Taylor Wimpey is one of the UK’s largest residential developers building over 14,000 homes per year from 24 regional businesses across England, Scotland and Wales.

In 2017 we formed a joint venture with the London Borough of Wandsworth to regenerate the Winstanley and York Road estate in Battersea, London.

We are delivering 2,700+ homes, affordable housing and a new community facility with a combined library, leisure and children’s centre, including an eight-court sports hall and three swimming pools. Our careful approach knits together the masterplan into the existing surrounding neighbourhoods through the creation of a new 2.5-hectare London park at the centre, accessible to new and existing residents and the surrounding communities.

We are creating jobs, education and training opportunities for local people and enhancing connections between the neighbourhood and wider community, Clapham Junction station and the River Thames, by facilitating movement through the site and to the new park. We are also supporting the Council in holding their yearly GetActive festival, held on site, which aims to promote health, wellbeing and strengthening community spirit.

The hybrid planning submission, submitted in January 2019, marks not only a major milestone being completed for the project, but also signifies one of the largest estate regeneration schemes submitted in London within the last ten years. The scheme also represents one of Taylor Wimpey’s largest hybrid planning applications to date. In August 2018 we obtained detailed planning for ‘Phase Zero’ consisting of 138 private and affordable homes, a re-provided church and a school, allowing us to start on site in December 2018 and rehouse the first residents.
